How to Prepare for Black Friday & Cyber Monday Beauty Sales: 5 Useful Tips

There are only a few weeks left before the Cyber Week begins, so I thought I would share a few useful Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping tips that will help save you money and avoid making purchases you will regret.

TIP #1:

Find some time to go through your makeup drawer and set aside items that are clearly expired. Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales are a good opportunity to replace them with fresh ones without putting a huge dent in your budget.

TIP #2:

Examine your skincare routine. Are the products you use still effective? Are you running low on your favorites? It might be a good time to buy backups for items you know you will still use months from now. I advise to never buy more than 1 extra skincare product as a backup because our skin’s needs change all the time, and what worked well in January might cause you to break out in July.

TIP #3:

Next tip is totally KonMari style! Does your makeup bring you joy? You might think that buying another palette [lipstick, blush, highlighter etc] is a waste of money if you have several others collecting dust in a drawer somewhere, but I disagree. If the new palette brings you joy and you have fun using it every day, it will give you so much more than a killer smokey eye. From personal experience, if I love my makeup I naturally feel happier and more confident, which reduces stress and helps me feel better physically as well. Positive vibes are not just for those cheesy motivational posters!

TIP #4:

Start your Christmas shopping list if you haven’t already. Even if you don’t have a specific item in mind for each person, you probably have a vague idea on what you want to get for them. Example: Mom – perfume, husband – new gadget or something for the car etc. Once the sales go live, you might spot something that will make the perfect gift, and you will already have your list of ideas ready so you can easily cross off the names. Even if you don’t get the gifts for everyone during Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, you might still get a big chunk of the holiday shopping done.

TIP #5:

Last one is the most obvious: what do you actually need? Think of the practical things that you might want to buy, even if they aren’t super glamorous. Example: treat yourself to a new bra if yours is falling apart, or a new hairdryer if yours is so old it dies after a minute. Maybe your bath towels are thinned out from years of use, it’s a good time to replace them. Are some of your plates chipped? Why not finally buy a new set! Basically, use this opportunity to replace something old and worn out that you use often instead of buying something totally new on top of what you own. Unless you need it. 😉

I hope you enjoyed these quick tips! I know there’s so much more to Black Friday shopping than what’s listed above, but it’s a good place to start. I won’t lie, in the past I wasted way too much money on things just because they were on sale. Nowadays I am more strategic with my spending, and I am slowly trying to downsize my life as well. I like the idea of mindful minimalism where you own only 2 categories of products: things that are necessary, and things that bring you joy. It’s possible that I might change my mindset in the future [after all our opinions are never set in stone], but right now this lifestyle makes perfect sense to me so that’s what I’ve been up to lately – decluttering, one drawer at a time.
